Message on No Answer
Turn a dead end into a helpful next step.
What it is
A short fallback message your Delphi shows when it doesn’t have enough training data to answer. It appears on Strict and Adaptive modes when a reply can’t be grounded in your sources.
Where: Profile → Mind Settings (scroll down) → Message on No Answer or Mind → Settings (top right)
When to use it
Set expectations while your library grows.
Route users toward topics you cover well.
Offer a next step (try a related query, share context, or contact support) instead of a dead end.
How it behaves
Trigger: Fires when your Delphi can’t ground an answer in your Mind (Strict/Adaptive).
Structure: Starts with exactly the text you set (ensures consistency).
Smart add‑ons: After your text, Delphi may add brief guidance; e.g., suggest alternatives, explain limitations, or refine the question, to keep the conversation moving.
Note: In Creative mode, Delphi may attempt to answer using broader knowledge; consider keeping Creative off if you want tight "no answer" behavior.
Quick Start (60 seconds)
Open Profile → scroll down to Mind Settings → Message on No Answer.
Write a 1–2 sentence message (aim for ≤ 160 characters up front).
Include 2–3 topics you can help with or a CTA (e.g., provide details, link policy page).
Save → test in Test my Delphi by asking an out‑of‑scope question.
Strong examples
“I don’t have enough training data to answer that yet. I can help with pricing, setup, or timelines, try one of those.”
“My resources are limited on this topic. Ask me about our features, integrations, or migration steps instead.”
Best practices
Lead with clarity: Say you don’t have the sources. Avoid hedging.
Offer paths: Give 2–3 concrete topics or a next action (share context, link resource, email support).
Stay on‑brand: Keep tone consistent with Speaking Style.
Keep it short: Front‑load the first sentence; extras may be appended by Delphi.
Audit monthly: Update as your Mind grows; remove outdated routes.
FAQs
Why did it still add text after my message? After your opening line, Delphi may append guidance to help the user recover. Your initial text is always preserved verbatim.
Why isn’t it firing? Check Creativity mode (Strict/Adaptive only) and verify the question is covered by your sources.
Can I add links? Yes, use stable URLs to docs or contact forms.
