Disclaimer

Set clear boundaries in a single, persistent banner.

What it is

An optional red banner with a warning icon that appears above all content. It is dismissible (visitors can click ×) but returns on every page reload. Maximum length is 400 characters so people read it, not skip it.

Where: Profile → Disclaimer.

Use it to

  • Clarify limits (e.g., information‑only; not medical, legal, or financial advice).

  • Provide safety/compliance notes up front.

  • Remind visitors that urgent or personalized guidance requires a professional.

  • Keep the experience transparent without blocking chat.

Quick start (under 1 minute)

  1. Go to Profile → Disclaimer and click Add.

  2. Type your message (watch the 400‑character counter).

  3. Wait for the green check (bottom‑right) confirming it saved.

  4. Click Done editing.

To update or remove later: Edit → change text or Remove → wait for the green check → Done editing.

Best practices

  • Lead with the key phrase (e.g., “Not medical advice”).

  • Use plain language and short sentences; avoid legalese and ALL CAPS.

  • Point to next steps (e.g., “talk to a professional” / “call emergency services”).

  • Keep it evergreen; avoid dates unless required.

  • Stay well under 400 characters for readability.

Copy‑and‑paste templates (≤ 400 chars)

  • Medical: Educational only, not medical advice. If you have symptoms or urgent concerns, contact your clinician or local emergency services.

  • Legal: General information, not legal advice. For advice on your situation, consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.

  • Financial: For education only, not investment, tax, or financial advice. Consider your circumstances and consult a qualified professional.

  • Coaching: Guidance only. Results may vary. Best as a compliment to individualized professional advice.

  • Research/Policy: Information may be incomplete or dated, verify with primary sources before acting.

FAQs & limits

  • Can visitors hide it? They can dismiss it, but it reappears on reload.

  • Where does it show? At the top, above all other content.

  • Can I style it? The banner style is fixed (red strip with icon); text is editable.

  • Does it block actions? No—it informs; it does not gate features.
