Purpose and Instructions
The purpose and style are how you provide direction and personality. This is a critical step in providing additional layers of usefulness and personalization.
Purpose
The Purpose is the North Star for your Digital Mind, determining its quality and functionality. It directs the conversation and sets the manner in which it should operate.
Delphi will automatically generate a Purpose based on your topics of expertise, bio, and intended use selected during onboarding. Feel free to add to your Purpose to give it further direction. If during the refinement process you want to give more specific direction when interacting with users, make adjustments to the Purpose.
If you need direction to create a purpose for a specific use case (e.g., Customer Service, internal CEO), select View Examples

Custom Instructions
Custom instructions are very powerful and can provide the last bit of refinement to make it fit your ideal desired output. Delphi protects your personal brand. Everyone has different goals for their interactive experience and these guardrails or open pathways can be set here.
Here are some examples of how customers harness custom instructions to improve the experience for your audience:
- Occasionally use emojis in responses.
- Don’t discuss political figures ever in conversation.
- Use explicit swear words like ”…”
- Don’t provide information about upcoming events or speaking engagements.
- Act very lively and energetic. Use exclamation points in responses.
- Avoid speaking in sentences with complex structure.
Custom Instructions are not a way for you to create a scripted conversation flow.
